250 'WALK 4 WILDLIFE' WITH MIKE DILGER

Last Sunday, 13th May over 250 adults, children and dogs joined BBC The One Show’s, Mike Dilger to take part in Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust’s ‘Walk 4 Wildlife’.
WADING BIRD NESTS DESTROYED BY FLOODING

Wading bird nests have been swamped at Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust’s Coombe Hill nature reserve, near Tewkesbury. Recent high rainfall has put large areas of the nature reserve under deep water causing the total loss of all this years breeding wader nests.
SEVERN VALE VISION COMMENDED

Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust’s Severn Vale Living Landscape has been commended for its long term vision in a prestigious national award. The Living Wetlands Award presented by The Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM) recognises projects that demonstrate the sustainable use of wetland habitats.

RIVER RESTORATION ATTRACTS OTTERS AND MORE!

Residents in the Tewkesbury area may have noticed diggers in action and glimpses of a new river channel along the A38 at Priors Norton last autumn with more action taking place in the coming weeks. This work is a part of an ongoing river restoration project lead by the Environment Agency, supported by Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust.
LEGAL CHALLENGE ON WILDLIFE ISSUES

Forest of Dean Friends of the Earth has launched a legal challenge against the decision by the Forest of Dean District Council to approve the Council's Core Strategy and the Cinderford Area Action Plan, which together give the go ahead for the controversial regeneration of the Cinderford Northern Quarter.

DESTROYED VERGE TO BE RESTORED

In February 2012 Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust was alarmed to learn that a large section of a protected roadside verge containing nationally scarce flora had been destroyed and replaced by hardcore near Ashleworth, by contractors working on behalf of Severn Trent.
